The Mystery of the Tolling Bell was the first book I read. It is still my favorite.

i just came back from vacation with my sister who is in her mid 40s and is an active jw, regular pioneer of many years.
while away, during one of our conversations, it bacame clear to me that my sister is lonely and doesn't have a social life.
she's too old to be included in the plans of the younger generation and, as she is not married, doesn't get included in the "marrieds" set.

They told JW children 75 years ago, not to get married or to have children.
They were to slave for the WT instead.
I know an 80 year old sister you would never guess was 80. She has never even kissed a guy.
She is waiting until after Armageddon to proceed.
She was a good girl. My heart could break for her, it is so sad.
She has always given quality gifts at wedding showers and baby showers and is very hospitable. Always green hand shakes to the CO, DO and pioneers.
How is she thought of in her congo and circuit?

i was baptized in 1968. last meeting 2010. i have to say i was never 100% in.
there were times i absolutely believed, but i never really gave it my all.
never liked service, assemblies, meetings.
Unfortunately for me, yes, I was in 100%.
I questioned it once when I was 18.
When I went to a woman's shelter for protection from my ex who had been an Elder for 40 years, the kind ladies there asked me if I had ever done any volunteer work, or any community work.

she fell again and had to have surgery on her other hip.
this is the fourth trip to the er since last fall.
needless to say, i'm not having a good week.
I am so sorry for you and your dear Mom. I wish her the safest, fasting recovery time.
Does your schedule allow you to be able to spend some time with her?

for me, that happy day was in morro bay, calif. it was the fall, oct 1958 or 9. gorgeous weather.
the sun was shining and the wind was coming off of the ocean.. at that time, morro bay was unassigned territory.. talesin on another thread was talking about a lovely day she had, going with her grandfather, talking with a mr languages.
